The Power of 'No Judgement'

One of the areas I’m interested in with regards to self-development is the impact of overthinking. My mind is constantly ‘thinking’, it can be sparked by internal factors such as analysing emotions, or external factors such as understanding situations, people and the world around me. Whilst thinking is obviously an amazing ability, overthinking, especially if it is negative can be an issue.  There are many books and articles which address the negative impact of ‘overthinking’ and have been very helpful.  However recently I have read ‘The Power of Now’ by Eckhart Tolle, one area that Eckhart teaches is the use of ‘no judgement’ upon yourself or others.  I have been experimenting with this theory for a couple of weeks.  If I truly have no judgement about the way I am feeling, not criticising myself, or over analysing why I am feeling a certain way, so not judging the situation at all, then I have discovered that there is not much to think about. If I have no judgement about a situation, then I am left with the facts, which make it easier to make a decision or to not have an emotional response.  It is proving to be a powerful tool to quiet my mind and focus on what is important.

In the workplace, having the ability to have no judgement could be very useful for managing a lot of situations, you can take time to work out facts, understand what has happened and why, then make objective decisions.
